R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik, had a statue erected along the road leading to the fortress, funded by money they had themselves collected for this purpose. The statue, unveiled on 3 May 1930, is the work of the well-known Czech sculptor Otakar \u0160paniel. In 1938 it was moved to Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica, where it was placed on Urp\u00edn Hill. It remained there until the end of the Second World War.<\/p>\n<p>After the war, the statue of M. R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik was transported back to Kom\u00e1rno and exhibited on the town hall square on 9 May 1948. In the 1950s it was removed from there, and in 1968 it was erected in the park of the rose alley. Unfortunately, six years later the statue again met with an unfavourable fate and was placed in the premises of the Russian barracks in the underground of the Kom\u00e1rno fortress.<\/p>\n<p>Only in 1990 did members of Matica slovensk\u00e1&#8217;s local branch agree to try to place the statue of M. R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik in a more dignified, publicly accessible place. On 28 October 1990, the statue of M. R. \u0160tef\u00e1nik was ceremonially unveiled in front of the House of Matica slovensk\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p>Milan Rastislav \u0160tef\u00e1nik was a politician, diplomat and astronomer, an important figure in Slovak history. The Czechoslovak National Council was established in Paris in February 1916, of which he became vice-chairman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"redactor-image-wrapper\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/c0c199b155b71ff0ff52484d0ec34fae.jpg\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":303,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"tags":[],"kategoria-programov":[108],"obec":[115],"class_list":["post-1364","zaujimavost","type-zaujimavost","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","kategoria-programov-with-culture","obec-komarno"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/zaujimavost\/1364","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/zaujimavost"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/zaujimavost"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/303"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1364"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1364"},{"taxonomy":"kategoria-programov","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/kategoria-programov?post=1364"},{"taxonomy":"obec","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/obec?post=1364"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
