The Z\u00fagov waterfalls in the northeast of the town of Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky are part of the Z\u00fagov protected natural area. They are located on the river Nitra, which above Z\u00fagov splits into two branches that reunite at the cascades. The name Z\u00fagov comes from Hungarian \u2014 the word &#8220;z\u00fag\u00f3&#8221; describes the sound of roaring, falling water. On one of the branches, a small hydroelectric power plant was built in the recent past.
