The statue of S\u00e1ndor Pet\u0151fi, the greatest and most important Hungarian poet, was unveiled on 22 September 2017 in a small park on Senn\u00fd trh (Hay Market) Square next to Pet\u0151fi Street in Kom\u00e1rno.<\/p>\n
The work was created by the Csongr\u00e1d sculptor couple Gy\u00f6rgyi Lantos and Istv\u00e1n M\u00e1t\u00e9. In the 1841\u20131842 school year the poet was a student of the 7th (logic) class in P\u00e1pa, where he became close friends with M\u00f3r J\u00f3kai and Soma Orlai Petrich. In 1842, at the end of the school year, he set off to his parents with Orlai, but first they spent a week visiting J\u00f3kai in Kom\u00e1rno.
