{"id":1384,"date":"2026-04-10T20:44:02","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T18:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/?post_type=zaujimavost&#038;p=1384"},"modified":"2026-04-28T13:20:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T11:20:13","slug":"history-of-nove-zamky","status":"publish","type":"zaujimavost","link":"https:\/\/visitdanube.eu\/en\/attraction\/history-of-nove-zamky\/","title":{"rendered":"History of Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The history of Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky is often associated with the medieval period, when four medieval villages \u2014 Ny\u00e1rh\u00edd, G\u00fag, Gy\u00f6r\u00f6k and L\u00e9k \u2014 were located in the area of present-day Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky. The actual founding of Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky is, in the specialist literature, considered to have been the construction of the first Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky fortress on the left bank of the river Nitra in 1545. The first Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky fortress was built by the Archbishop of Esztergom, P\u00e1l V\u00e1rday, to protect the territories belonging to the Esztergom Archbishopric after Esztergom was occupied by the Ottomans.<\/p>\n<p>The second, modern Renaissance fortress was built in swampy terrain on the right bank of the river Nitra between 1573 and 1580.
