This text stands above the entrance to the Franciscan church and monastery in Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky, which was built between 1626 and 1631 and consecrated by P\u00e9ter P\u00e1zm\u00e1ny on 24 May 1631. The library once held important codices such as the Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky, Czech and Thewrewk codices.<\/p>\n

After Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky fell into Turkish hands, the monastery served (from 1663) as quarters for Turkish officers, the church was used as a warehouse, and the church tower was converted into a minaret. When Nov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky returned to Hungarian hands, after 1685 the church and monastery were restored and consecrated by the Milanese Franciscan general P\u00e9ter Sorman.<\/p>\n

Comprehensive restoration and archaeological research of the monastery began in 1978. The archaeological excavations uncovered the original gate and the crypt beneath the church.
