The shipyards were founded at the end of the 19th century and experienced their greatest boom during the period of socialism, when primarily sea-river vessels were built here. The first so-called pontoon bridge was built in Komárno in 1586 and was carried by 79 boats. In 1892 the pontoon bridge was replaced by the fixed Elizabeth Bridge, named after Empress Sissi.

The bridge is built across the Danube River. For more than 100 years it has been connecting two towns that once formed a single town and which were divided only with the establishment of the First Czechoslovak Republic. It is a border bridge between Slovak Komárno and Hungarian Komárom. Roughly in the middle of the bridge runs the line that divides our republic from Hungary. This is clearly marked on the bridge, and it is quite interesting to stand in the middle of the bridge with one foot in Hungary and one in Slovakia.

[108
115
post-1508","zaujimavost","type-zaujimavost","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","kategoria-programov-with-culture","obec-komarno
["GET
