Memorial to the 1965 Flood

Description

In a small park on the main street (opposite the sports ground) stands a memorial to the 1965 flood. It consists of three marble columns on a base representing 3 districts and the waves of the Danube. A marble plaque bears the inscription: “The village of Iža was destroyed by a great flood in the summer of 1965. Its reconstruction was carried out by workers from the districts of Uherské Hradiště, Trenčín and Šumperk together with the residents of Iža.” The memorial was originally placed on a small rise opposite the Calvinist church. Because it was not sufficiently visible, it was moved to its present location in 1995.
