The Júlia Barta Municipal Gallery as we know it today has been operating since 1993. It is located in the most beautiful and currently also the most prominent place in the town, beneath the centuries-old plane trees on the pedestrian zone. The gallery’s activities are secured by the Municipal Cultural Centre from the city budget. Professional assistance is provided by a commission composed of experts. Both domestic and foreign artists show interest in organizing exhibitions. From their donations, a core collection of artworks has emerged and continues to grow, which is occasionally made accessible to the public, and together with regular exhibition events constitutes the unified cultural wealth of our city.
The gallery regularly hosts exhibitions by domestic and foreign artists. It helps to enrich and diversify the overall cultural life of the city and the region.
Exhibitions rotate monthly. The gallery with international scope was registered with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic on 1 August 2006.
