Next to the Catholic church stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. Its inscription reads: “Erected in memory of the heroes of Iža who fell in the First World War in 1914”, followed by the heroes’ names. The base is rectangular, with four small cornices on the pedestal and four stone cannonball sculptures at its four corners. In place of a cross stands a cross without the body of Jesus, topped with a decorative flowerpot of artificial stone. Interestingly, the heroes’ names are distributed year by year, from 1914 to 1920, across the four sides of the central column. The monument is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence with a small gate. It was made by the stonemason J. Polvár from Komárno.
