A beautiful place for a walk in nature by the water. The Zúgov waterfalls in the northeast of the town of Nové Zámky are part of the Zúgov protected natural area. They are located on the river Nitra, which above Zúgov splits into two branches that reunite at the cascades. The name Zúgov comes from Hungarian — the word “zúgó” describes the sound of roaring, falling water. On one of the branches, a small hydroelectric power plant was built in the recent past. Even with the new power plant, it remains a lovely spot.
How to get there: You can reach the Zúgov waterfalls on foot, by bike (along the red-marked Ponitrianska cycle route), or by car.
