The Ján Thain Museum was named after the local painter, historian and collector of folk art. Until his retirement, Ján Thain was a teacher at the grammar school in Nové Zámky. He was also one of the founders of the Municipal Museum in Nové Zámky, and from 1935 until the end of the Second World War he served as its director. He documented the folk art of Nové Zámky and its immediate surroundings.
The museum’s core activity is research and documentation of the town of Nové Zámky and its surroundings in the relevant fields.
