Every year on 1 May, the two cities are connected through sport – the International Street Run Komárno–Komárom. The route leads from Komárno across the bridge over the Danube to Komárom, with runners able to choose from several categories according to age and performance level.
The run is organised as part of the Komárno Days and each year attracts hundreds of runners from Slovakia, Hungary and other countries. The event has a tradition of more than 40 years and has become a symbol of the cross-border friendship between the two cities.
